Students will vote in a new orchestra council in August.

Responsibilities

1. Organize one fundraiser for the school year.  Proceeds will go towards purchasing new equipment for the orchestra program.

2. Helping set-up and run events such as ABODA Area Festival, Orchestra Banquet, and more.

3. Develop leadership skills, foster a culture of excellence and inclusion in the orchestra program.

4. General help around the room, such as organizing the room, hanging holiday decorations, and filing music.

Meetings

Orchestra Council will meet twice per month during JCT.  These meetings will be announced after elections are held.

• Section leaders will be established at the beginning of the year, by interview and audition at the discretion of the director.

• Section leaders may be replaced if they are not fulfilling their roles sufficiently.

• Section leaders are expected to lead the section by:

  • Setting the example of rehearsal etiquette in class.

  • Making bowing suggestions, and ensuring that all bowings and markings are passed through their section.

  • Establish and maintain a daily seating rotation for their section.

  • Assist the sectional coaches with the sectional rehearsal and attendance.

  • Run effective and inclusive sectional rehearsals as needed.

  • Other responsibilities as Mr. Burton deems necessary.
